PETER R. OLSON is the founder and a principal in The Olson Law Firm, LLC. He was employed previously with two law firms located in suburban Cook County, Illinois prior to founding the Firm in 2005. He was graduated from the Southern Illinois University (SIU) School of Law. Prior to his law school attendance, Peter had two years of professional experience in journalism in Washington, D.C. and one year of professional experience as a high school social studies teacher in Bartonville, Illinois.
While in law school, Peter developed his interest in elder law through his participation in SIU's elder law clinic which provides pro-bono legal services to persons 60 years of age and older in the southern portion of the state. He is currently a member of the Illinois State Bar Association's Elder Law Section Council where he serves as the newsletter editor. Peter is also a member of the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys, Chicago Bar Association, Northwest Suburban Bar Association and the Chicago Area Real Estate Investors Association. Peter also serves as a pro-bono attorney for the Alliance Defense Fund, Center for Disability and Elder Law and through the Chicago Bar Association's Senior Will Program.
Peter and his wife Regan reside in the northwest suburbs. Peter carries a golf handicap that has been stuck at 12 for a number of years and competes semi-seriously in the Galena and Lake Geneva triathlons each year. You can also usually see him at the top of the Hustle up the Hancock each February. Peter is a member of the Des Plaines Rotary Club. Peter was born in Oak Park, Illinois and was raised in Glenview, Illinois. He was graduated from Glenbrook South High School.
